Right..... kids in bed and internet is kinda working so full report underway!
What a difference a day of good weather makes! I spoke with Bernie (head ski instructor) kindly yesterday as we had missed out on some skiing and asked if they would meet us earlier if the conditions were good so that we could make up some ski time. Gratefully he agreed so we were up and ready to go on the slopes at 0930h. The weather was initially a little snowy but with no wind (result). Visibility was good, the crowds were gone, perfect conditions.
Away the kids went and they were making the very most of the fantastic ski area - i was able to get around most of the groups (that i could catch) and see how well all were progressing. It was amazing to see how skiing in poor conditions had such a positive effect on their skiing in good conditions - all were very controlled and working hard on fine tuning their technical skills.
The sun broke through later in the afternoon and we found ourselves helping out the some of the groups as they progressed up the mountain on chair lifts to bigger, wider and steeper runs. The ski area is perfect for beginner and immediate skiing and has a great range of runs... i went for a little recce myself and found a couple of black runs... the 'hari kari' and 'devil run'.... the instructors said that some of the kids will likely be ready to ski one or two black runs by the end of the week - i'll just say it doesn't take long to get from the top to the bottom, regardless of if you plan to or not... great fun and it will be fantastic to see some of the kids tackle them. For the more sensible, the aim is to progress from blue to red runs of which there are plenty - the kids will carve them up!
The weather looks good again tomorrow and Bernie is giving us extra time again so its set to be a good one! We can't wait.
Thanks again for the compliments about the blog - the comments are growing and we take time each night to read them out and i have more and more kids wanting to blog back now... will send them in the next blog shortly. I just checked the blog count... we have had 8421 views so far!!!!! amazing! Thank you all!
